Art (and Farm) Night

Ellison and I were due for some much needed one-on-one time.  We had the perfect opportunity for a date night at our friend, Anja's, art night.  The theme was "Mad about Monet".  Beyond the fun of doing artwork, Ellison and all the kids were completely taken with the Wrays' chickens.  They were all playing with them, chasing them, holding them, etc. while we waited for the art night to begin.  I was shocked Ellison took to them so quickly.  You would've thought the girl was raised on a farm.

Ellison quickly bonded with "Stormy", the black chicken.  She acted as if it were hers.  It was not easy corralling her in to start the art projects, which is was a big shocker.  She would've stayed the night in the coop if she could've.

We had such a fun time learning about Monet.  Ellison did a great job creating her works inspired by the artist. :-)

As soon as art time was over, the kids made a beeline back out to the chickens.  All I've got to say is, "Those poor chickens..."

Retrieving her beloved Stormy...

Ellison begged me over and over... and over... to keep Stormy and take her home with us.  She used everything from, "But she needs me..." to "But I love her..."  It didn't matter that 1) She already belongs to somebody who loves her, and 2) We will not be purchasing any chickens, and 3) Even if we did have a chicken, she could not sleep with you.

The day after our art night, Ellison got sad stating how much she missed Stormy, but for the time being she's finally over it.
