Jonathan went on runs on the beach every morning, and returned with a present one morning. He was talking to one of the people fishing off the shore when he returned, and they caught a baby sand shark. He ran it up to us quickly so we could touch its sandpapery skin (blech!), then ran it back down to release it. Ellison wasn't much for having her fingers on it. My thoughts were: if there is a baby shark, surely there is a mama shark close by???
We decided to head to Beaufort for a small chunk of the day. It was SO bloody hot!!! We popped into a few stores, then ate a delicious lunch at Clawson's. After attempting a couple of other shops, Marek decided he was just too darn hot, and seemed pretty miserable for a good nap. So the two of us headed back to the condo while the others visited the little cemetary we love there. They only lasted about 5 minutes with the heat, then went over to the Maritime Museum. Recently in the news, Blackbeard's anchor from his ship was recovered off the North Carolina coast, and it was brought to this museum. Wouldn't you know it was shipped off temporarily only the week before?
Marek slept SOOO good at the beach every day! Very long naps, slept good at night, only getting up at about between 4:30-6am for a quick snack that right back to bed. It gave me and/or Gram plenty of time to watch the Casey Anthony trial when not out on the deck. I know that sounds so awful...
Marek loves looking at his Sissy. He's just fascinated with her and gives her the sweetest smiles.
So it wasn't until that night that we discovered we were missing a member of the family - Teddy!!! Ugh. We were all sick to our stomachs about it. Teddy joined our family when Ellison was still in the womb. We actually bought a duplicate when we noticed her initial attachment to him, and she was impartial for a while. But over time, there was just something about the original Teddy that she favored. So we've never been able to have a replacement, I guess. We scoured the place and the vehicles looking for him without success. When racking our brains, Ellison realized that she did take him into the first store in Beaufort with us, even though Grandma told her to leave him in the van. We remembered her sitting in a chair in the store looking at a book, and prayed that that was where Teddy was left. We called and left messages for 3 stores, just to cover our bases, and we all prayed hard while our little girl fell asleep with tears and silent sobs. :-( We anxiously awaited a returned phone call in the morning when the stores opened, but were losing hope as our phone sat silent. I decided to call again anyway, and wouldn't you know - the lady said they had it!!! So Ellison, Daddy, and Papa went off to go rescue Teddy, and Ellison wrote a note to the lady telling her thank you for keeping Teddy safe. Can you guess what our rule is now? Teddy doesn't get to be a patron.
