Vacation Begins

After Ellison's last day of school, we picked her up and headed on out to begin the culmination of our year long anticipation.  After stumbling upon the cute town of New Bern last year on the way home from the beach, we decided we'd spend a night there this time around.  So that was our first stop.  Of course Ellison wanted to ride in G & G's van for the trip, so Marek got stuck with the 'rents.  Yes, we pack that much - two vehicles needed this year.  The ride there wasn't the most pleasant - mega rainstorm, ominous looking sky, and Marek would only sleep in, like, 20 minute increments, then would whine or cry the rest of the time.  Since I get carsick, I couldn't sit in the back with him and make faces or entertain him, so we had to let him cry (since someone wouldn't give up the reins so he could do that job.  But I won't mention any names...).  At any rate, we finally made it to New Bern and settled into our nice hotel.  Ellison thinks it is the highlight of her life to stay in a hotel (remember Tweetsie Railroad last fall?).  We had two rooms, and Ellison would not stop going back and forth between the two.  She was so lit up with excitement gathering water into her hotel cups to drink, using the room keys, going out on the balcony, etc.  You'd have thought she was playing house.

Here was the pretty view of the harbor from our room.

We went downstairs to Christoph's to eat on the harbor, and had such a lovely time.  The weather and breeze were perfect, the view was quaint, and there was live music playing next to our big patio, and it was so open I could sway and walk with Marek without being in the way.  And the food was delish!

SOOO happy to be out of that carseat!  Sweet baby

This is what his precious little mouth looks like when he's cooing and babbling with you.  LOVE HIM.

And my little female love was having her time with... make-up.  She sweet-talked Gram into scoring her some Hello Kitty eyeshadow, clear mascara, and lipstick at Target the day before.  Fabulous.  It occupied her most of dinner.

Then it was off to bed shortly thereafter.  It's different traveling with a 4 month old. :-)
