We woke up Sunday morning and took all the kids to church with us while Josh & Andrea stayed home to go to the store and to cook for us. They prepared 3 huge meals for us to freeze, AND Josh made his scrumptious Hawaiian BBQ ribs for our dinner! So the 6 of us rush to get to church on time, and we wonder why the cops aren't out directing traffic as they always are. And why is there almost no activity in the parking lot that is completely full of parked cars and that is usually insane? Then it dawned on me: the time change!!! We were an hour off. :-) The good news was that I had the chance to feed Marek, so then I wouldn't hopefully miss being in the worship center. Jonathan was having a fit that I was breastfeeding in the van in the frontseat without covering myself with a tent and putting a barricade outside the van. We were far out in the parking lot, and once in a blue moon a person would walk quite far from our vehicle. He seriously brought it up every 10 seconds for about 5 minutes straight. "Don't you want your tent?" "Why don't I go pull into a back parking spot where no one will see you?" "Do you want to sit on the floor?" "Do you wanna go inside and feed him in the nursing room?" "Why don't you go in the backseat so no one can see you. We're at church for Pete's sake!". Honey, people are here to see Jesus, not search for minivans full of women behind tinted windows with a tiny sliver of their boobs hanging out!!! Ugh. So started our day.
After getting home, Josh and Andrea were in the throws of cooking most of the day. Toward late afternoon, Josh and Jon left to go to the driving range quick (Josh had to take full advantage of nice weather since they were still knee deep in snow back home). As soon as they left, me and Andrea had one of those days together... Marek was crying, I was trying to feed him, we were trying to cook, Marek pooped all over the place, Ellison was begging for food, I spilled an entire bowl of grated Parmesan cheese all over the floor, and there were about 10 other little things all going wrong at the same time. Andrea commented, "Now all we need is someone to come to the door!" Ha, ha... Someone came to the door. Seriously. We were laughing because it is SUCH the life of a mother on some days.
Despite all of our little uphill battles during the day, we had a nice (and yummy!) day together, and dreaded the gang packing up their stuff to head out bright and early the next morning.
