An Early Christmas

So Ellison wrote Santa a letter, notifying him that we'd be in Michigan over Christmas.  While that was supposed to be the point of the letter, most of it ended up being a giant wish list.  I do have to say, though, that she did think of her brother, too, and made a few requests on his behalf, all on her own.  So anyway, Santa wrote back that he would be dropping off some things for Ellison and Marek on December 17 since his elves would be in the area.  We greatly appreciated this since we weren't keen on the idea of sending any more gifts back to NC from MI.

So, come Friday night, Ellison left out some celery and milk for Santa ("He's probably full from too many cookies,") and some carrots for the reindeer, all carefully counted out for each one of them.

Marek wished us all a Merry Early Christmas by pooping himself awake by 6:00am.  Gosh, I love it when he does that (insert sarcasm).  I don't know what it is about boys and bowels, but they are apparently pre-occupied with them at an early age.  The moment Marek poops in his sleep, it's all over.  Whether slumber has occurred for 10 minutes, or 10 hours.  Done.  The whole house has to wake up.  He doesn't scream or cry, he just plays.  Loudly.  And won't return to sleep.  We've tried leaving him in there for an hour, as long as he seems content.  But then the feelings of worry and guilt start to creep in as I start imagining a diaper rash growing by the minute, and well heck, I'm not sleeping anymore anyways.  But I digress...
So as soon as Ellison heard Marek was awake, she jumped at her opportunity.  We all traipsed downstairs to see what the jolly fella left behind.

Marek got a new grow-with-me bike that he immediately seemed to like...

That would be a new bike for Ellison in the background.  She's not even into the Disney princesses a ton anymore, and we thought for sure she would want a Barbie bike, but as soon as she spotted the cool wheels with hearts in the toy catalog, it was over.  We kept trying to talk her out of wanting a princess bike since she doesn't really play with them much anymore, and we tried turning her on to SEVERAL (read: "any") other bikes, but she would not budge in insisting she wanted this particular bike on her wish list.

So excited and enthusiastic...

Bubba still couldn't get over the fact that he had a little man-mobile finally...

Santa left a few celery stragglers, and was quite sloppy leaving the fireplace doors open.

Ell was so happy about her new bike.  It would be parked here in the dining room next to the table, and when it was time to go upstairs, she'd frantically announce, "Wait!", jump on the bike, pedal the half-rotation to the stairs, then proceed on her way.

Ellison loves playing with Marek's new toys.

It was a fun morning.  Just felt strange to be celebrating Christmas already.  But fun.  I love having these fun traditions with little people in our home.
