5 years has gone in such a flash. And what a 5 years it has been with our baby girl. So many challenges, and so many incredible, fun moments. Ellison asked me the other day if I was sad that she isn't a baby anymore. I told her that yes, I miss her being a baby, but it is so very exciting watching her grow up and learn new things, too.
The morning started off with our usual balloon welcome while singing "Happy Birthday". Daddy sang the Spanish song he always sings on our birthdays. She quickly wanted to join her brother in his room while he was getting his treatment.

Her birthday crown presented to her the day before at school. They celebrated with a special song, and we took in some mini-cupcakes.
Then Little Miss was showered with gifts from many people. She was so bloody excited.
Realizing she just got the American Girl Doll, "Rebecca", that she's been wanting from Grandma & Grandpapa...
And the Wuggle Pets she's been asking for since they first came out on commercials...
And the Pillow Pet Mini from Marek that she begs for every time we pass them in Wal-Mart...
Bubby liked the new obstacle course in front of him. She finished opening gifts from Aunt Carrie & Uncle Jeff, too.
After her gifts were opened, she set right out creating her Wuggle Pets.

Well, it's getting harder to capture what Ellison is like at 5 years old in a few short (or long) paragraphs. She is smart as a whip, inquisitive, strong-willed, sensitive, and feisty as all get out. Though reserved at times, she is not the timid little baby we once had. She is very outgoing when she gets comfortable, or when we are not around her. Her teachers at school say she is very smart, but she's had to work on her listening skills a little. We all think she is trying to get attention some, and is still dealing with being de-throned earlier this year. Ellison loves her friends to pieces, and just lights up when she has playmates. Just as she was turning 5, she has started sleeping a little better at night. It seems she and Marek are in cahoots because if one of them sleeps through the night, the other one is up, and vice versa. She's a creature of habit, and still loves to collect very random things.
Ellison is a busy young lady this year, involved in preschool 5 days per week, in addition to dance class and AWANA. We are so thrilled that she has taken an interest in learning more about Jesus and the Bible, and loves going to church.
She still is a very artistic kid, who can't ever get enough of coloring and doing crafts. She's great at thinking of creative ways to do things. She can read some very simple books, but when we try to work with her on more, she quickly decides she'd rather have us just read it to her. She also learned to tie just before her birthday. I kept telling her we were going to teach her all summer long, and never got around to it (isn't that sad?!). I sat down with her a few weeks ago, showed her twice how to do it, and she picked it right up.
Ellison is constantly saying things that crack us right up - she sounds so old sometimes. Lately she's often heard saying, "Aw, snap!", and "That's incredible!". She quickly brings us to the realization that she soaks up everything around her. For instance, the other day I dropped something (or something like that), and she said, "Mom, you're not going to say, 'Bammit', are you?" Honestly, I think I slipped once in front of her in the heat of the moment and she hasn't forgotten. Yikes!
Ellison is still a VERY picky eater, but once in a while will shock us with trying a new food. Her fave foods are probably pears and popcorn, and milk to drink.
She's not as into the Disney Princesses anymore, and now is more into Barbie and My Little Pony. She still completely loves stuffed animals, and has her little "family" on her bed and sprinkled throughout her room (and every other room of the house). She loves games and puzzles, coloring, and sometimes playing with her babies. She still has a love for horses and dolphins, too.
I know I'm forgetting 5,000 things about her that I want to include, but this mind doesn't work like it used to. ;-)
